Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 07 to George and Louise Kidd, Eddie, aka "Big Thangz" grew up as the oldest of three children, where he played baseball, football, and basketball with school teams. On the weekends Eddie went fishing with his dad, which later became a problem because instead of going to baseball games on Saturdays Eddie wanted to go fishing with my dad. At the age of 12, Eddie was introduced to bass fishing by a family friend, Robert Brown, who would take Eddie to different places throughout America to fish for bass in his bass boat. Fishing places like, Santee Cooper, Dale Hollow, Toledo Bend, and other lakes and rivers in Kentucky, Indiana, and the rest of the Midwestern states. Eddie wanted to become a tournament angler like Robert Brown and started to learn more about tournament fishing.

After gaining a full scholarship to attend college and play football at Miami University (Ohio), Eddie left home to join the U.S. Army and has travelled to many places in the world and served in several key missions for the Army as a Special Operations Specialist with the U.S. Army Special Forces, honorably discharged with almost 20 years of service, he decided to continue working with the Federal Government as a DoD Civilian. Eddie followed another dream to become a professional football player but as well, wanted to be a professional bass angler and fish in the Bassmasters Classic. Eddie has played Semi-professional  football in Germany with the AFVD American Football Verein Deutschland, with teams such as the Neu Ulm Barracudas, Ulm Sparrows, and Sonthofen Trucks, where he had one game scoring 6 touchdowns, in a season where he scored 28 touchdowns, but still with sights on the chance to be in Tournament Bass Fishing, Eddie returned to the California in 2002, where he started right away on his dream of becoming a tournament angler.

One of Eddie's strongest attributes is Loyalty but upon getting to know Eddie L. Kidd one would witness Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage, Duty, and Dedication. Started tournament fishing in 2002 with NorCal Bass Federation as a co-angler, in 2005 after finishing 4th in total standings with NorCal and fishing the TOC, Eddie started fishing FLW Western Series with part sponsorship by the U.S. Army and fishing as The Army Bass Angler. In 2007 Eddie fished the Bassmasters Elite Series as a co-angler, learning from such pros as Alton Jones, Mark Menendez, Matt Reed and other Elite anglers. An ambition to make it at the next level is what motivates Eddie to continue until reaching his goal.

Located in Yelm, Washington, Eddie was a member with one of the largest Bass Clubs in the state, The Puyallup Hawg Hunters. Eddie was employed with the Department of Defense as Soldier & Family Assistance Center Director, with The U. S. Army. Two consecutive years fished the nationals' semi-finals. After two promotions in the DoD, Eddie is a Division Chief in Georgia and centrally located to perform and compete in the midst of all the action, 2024 is looking great for BigThangz.
