As much as I’d love to be fishing right now, I do have some good news! Currently, I’m starting to pack up my office and get ready to head back home to my old job in California. I’ve been on priority placement since February, so any day now I could be sent back to the States. Things have been in kind of disarray and I thought it was best to request to go back to California. I actually just found out my boat was flooded out yesterday. Thankfully, I have a very special friend on the ground over there taking care of it. When I get back I’ll still have to figure out whether to replace the carpet and other parts that were damaged or just get a new one. I just received a gift package for my boat with a twelve and nine inch touch screen graph from Bass Pro, so I’m excited to get those of one of the boats too.
I haven’t caught a 2016 bass yet. I’ve had my gear packed up thinking I would be leaving, but have since pulled it back out hoping to catch one before I leave. I’m going to try and live dangerous and fish one of my favorite places right up by the North Korean border.
My fishing partner James Moore is back in the States and has already been at it, finishing 2nd at a tournament in Central Texas. It’s got me even more excited to get back at it. I’ve already been looking for every Open, Costa and whatever else I can get in when I get home.
I am heading back to the States for a short vacation from the 11th-15th to get everything worked out with my boat and naturally try and hook up with someone and cast a rod. It’ll be a short trip, but I’ll headed home for good very soon. I’m definitely not going to let this season be a wash.
As for Korea, it’s been relatively quiet over here as I’m anticipating my departure. The KSA had their first event on Easter Sunday which I did not attend. They only had fifty boats which was very surprising considering we’d usually get about one hundred and thirty. I was trying to check the results online, but it seemed to all be in Korean.
On a side note, my sponsor The Rod Glove did a story about me which they shared on their Facebook and on their website. When I started reading it, I got emotional. That was very cool to see and I want to thank them for that. They are a great company. I speak to Shelly Langley from The Rod Glove frequently and she has suggested I start a charity once I get home which I am very much looking forward to as well.
It’s almost time to go home for good and although Korea has been a great experience, I’m definitely ready. I can’t wait to be sitting in my Nitro back in California. Those fish at the Delta better watch out!
